How to make your home more comfortable when you’re self-isolating

People around the world are currently self-isolating at home and the UK are currently on lockdown to help slow the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. Being limited to our homes or rented accommodation can be challenging as it may not be the most comfortable of environments to keep yourself confined to.

Ely Mattress list some simple tips that will hopefully make wherever you are self-isolating a lot more comfortable.

Tidy your house top to bottom

First things first, a tidy room creates a tidy mind so get out the duster, anti-bacterial spray and vacuum and clean the whole house a clean. Most people will say they can only properly relax if their home is spotlessly clean without clutter on every surface.

A tidy and clean home will also give you more space to relax and unwind. Try to tidy everything away and keep only essentials out on view.

Create a workstation if you are working from home

Most of us are now working from home, but this means that some of us are using our couch or beds to prop up our laptops whilst working in our PJs. This may be fine for a week or so, but then you can get lazy.

Creating a workstation will focus your mind on the task and allow you to get into work-mode. You can buy an affordable desk, chair and side table to keep things minimal and purse friendly. Ensure it is away from the noisiest areas of your home, such as the kitchen where most of your family or flat mates will be making meals or eating them.

Find a relaxation spot

If you can allow for space, the dedicate a spot just for relaxation – Try a bean bag or arm chair with throws and cushions where you can curl up on and escape from chores.

Here, you can relax with a book, your iPad or simply watch some YouTube videos to take your mind off the mundane daily tasks and chores.

Buy fresh flowers to lift your mood

Plants and flowers actually improve the air quality, reduce pollutants and reduce stress. Also, they are beautiful to look at so during these anxious times, surround yourself with beauty within the home. Some of us are not so lucky to have a garden, so having some greenery indoors will be sure way to lift the mood.

Buy some scented candles

Scented candles make a difference to a home – Pleasant scents can evoke emotions and leave a long lasting impression. Spray your bedsheets with linen spray, clothing with fragrance or bake a delicious batch of cookies. Creating nice scents within the home is a sure way to make it more comfortable.

No time to bake those cookies? Simply buy a scented vanilla candle and that should make your room smell divine too!

Other ways to make your home smell beautiful is by using reed diffusers, incense sticks, potpourri and oil burners.

Think about soft furnishings

Comfort means having lots of soft furnishing you can kick back on to relax. Think soft pillows, fluffy throws, comfy blankets and rugs to make your home super comfortable.

You can purchase most of these online which is handy during this lockdown where only essential item shops are open.

Invest in a natural mattress
